May Cigar of the Month: The Kinky Lady
 |
| Kinky Friedman, Lord Lonsdale, and others who prefer a Kinky Lady-like cigar. |
This month, as we celebrate mom, we at Kinky Friedman Cigars are celebrating the mother of all lonsdales - the Kinky Lady.
You can celebrate, too, with a specially-priced Cigar of the Month trial pack, free shipping, special savings on full boxes and Kinky Lady gifts with purchase deals, all in the
Kinky Friedman Cigars store.
The Lonsdale style of cigar is named for Lord Lonsdale, an English earl, avid sportsman and bon vivant (like Little Jewford!), who was known by some as "England's greatest sporting gentleman." Lord Lonsdale preferred this elegantly long type of cigar.

Succulent and mellow, the Kinky Lady is set apart from the boys by her sweet tip of molasses and honey, which burns away to a smooth mild to medium-bodied smoke.
Long-leaf fillers from the Dominican, Honduras, and Nicaragua are harvested from 100 percent Cuban seeds and carefully blended within a seamless Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper in this expertly hand-rolled cigar.

Connecticut Shade tobacco is so called because it is grown under large tents that protect the leaves from the sun. Grown in direct sunlight, the leaf could be coarse and tough. But, shading it filters the sunlight, yielding a thinner, more elastic leaf. The thin, elastic nature of this leaf helps create a smooth, slow and even burn and gives a cigar balance.
In honor of Mother's Day and the Kinky Lady in all of us, we pay tribute to some of our favorite female cigar smokers:
Whoopi Goldberg, actress and comedienne extraordinaire, likes to punch a hole in the end of her cigars rather than cut them.
International supermodel Linda Evangelista was the first woman to be featured on the cover of Cigar Aficianado magazine.
Ellen Degeneres had cigar rollers creating cigars at her 50th birthday party.
Veronica Webb, a BBC journalist and supermodel, said: "It's fascinating to see a woman with a cigar because it's about staking a claim. And, it often takes people off guard."
Here's to all the women - and men - staking a claim with our May Cigar of the Month, the Kinky Lady!
